The Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean and is the smallest Asian country in both population and size. What this country lacks in size, it makes up for in beauty with some of the most gorgeous dive sites and beaches in the world. The government follows a “one island, one resort” policy and limits the height of the resorts to be equal or lesser than the tallest tree.
Many people don’t get the chance in their lifetime to encounter dolphins in the wild. Along with a clean vessel and an energetic crew, this will make for lasting memories and stories to share for years to come.
Ocean Beach is a beach on the west coast of San Francisco, California, United States, bordering the Pacific Ocean. It is adjacent to Golden Gate Park, the Richmond District, and the Sunset District. The Great Highway runs alongside the beach, and the Cliff House and the site of the former Sutro Baths sit at the northern end. The beach is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which is administered by the National Park Service.
Often overlooked by neighboring Tahiti and Bora Bora, Moorea is a secret favorite of snorkel fans. For an up-close-and-personal encounter with black-tip reef sharks, the best place to find them is in the lagoon facing Motu Irioa. Join a full-day tour group or hire a private guide and boat if you want to really explore the area and it's critters in depth.

Ocean Beach was given its name by developers Billy Carlson and Frank Higgins in 1887. The beachfront was the main attraction, although in the early 20th century, getting to Ocean Beach was a bit of a trek. Another draw was Wonderland, an amusement park at the northern end of the neighborhood that was washed away in 1916. Cottages, bungalows, and apartments were built through the years and attracted (and continue to attract) students, surfers, and free-spirited types. OB was somewhat isolated from the rest of the city until Interstate 8 was built in the mid-1960s. Ocean Beach is fondly looked upon as the neighborhood that time forgot, and it still has that hippie vibe—a carryover from the 1960s and '70s that never really left.

In 1915, John D. Spreckels and his Bayshore Railway Company built a 1,500 feet (460 m) wooden bridge connecting Ocean Beach with Mission Beach. The company used the bridge for a trolley, part of the San Diego Class 1 Streetcars, which connected OB with Downtown San Diego and encouraged the development of both Ocean Beach and Mission Beach.[10] The bridge was demolished in January 1951, thereby cutting off through traffic to Ocean Beach from the Mission Beach and Pacific Beach communities.[11]
Thanks for the great list of vacation destinations! But when you are going to Panama I can recommand going to San Blas instead of Bocas. Why? Because Bocas is way to crowded and full with tourists! San Blas is more prestine and in my opinion more beautiful. Here check these pictures out http://sanblas-islands.com/pictures/. But if you want luxury and good Wi-Fi then skip San Blas, it is pretty back to basic 🙂 Greets!

In Europe, 17-year-old Brigitte Bardot wore scanty bikinis (by contemporary standards) in the French film Manina, la fille sans voiles ("Manina, the girl unveiled"). The promotion for the film, released in France in March 1953, drew more attention to Bardot's bikinis than to the film itself. By the time the film was released in the United States in 1958 it was re-titled Manina, the Girl in the Bikini. Bardot was also photographed wearing a bikini on the beach during the 1957 Cannes Film Festival. Working with her husband and agent Roger Vadim she garnered significant attention with photographs of her wearing a bikini on every beach in the south of France.[92]
Bait Reef has some of the most eye-popping coral formations in the world. Most famous are The Stepping Stones, made up of nearly 20 flat-topped pinnacles lined up like soldiers in formation on the southwest side of the reef. Each rises from a depth of 80 feet and stop only three feet from the surface. They are completely covered with coral. Be on the lookout for the small tropical fish that swarm around the tops of the stones.
As we ventured further out, we saw a souvenir shop selling ice cream, candy, bottled water, and various articles of clothing or accessories with a San Diego logo. We found a small countertop display that had sunglasses for $9.99. It was perfect timing since it was almost 90 degrees out and the sun was out in full force. Next door to the shop is a restaurant called the Ocean Beach Pier Café which serves Mexican soft tacos, large breakfast plate offerings of three-egg omelets, tall pancake stacks with bacon and sausage links, humongous burgers, and seafood dishes such as fish and chips or clam chowder bread bowls. I saw a server bringing a monster plate of nachos to a single diner that was big enough to feed a group of four people.
1927: First use of swimmer's breathing tube and mask. According to Dr Gilbert Doukan's 1957 World Beneath the Waves[15] and cited elsewhere,[16] "In 1927, and during each summer from 1927 to 1930, on the beach of La Croix-Valmer, Jacques O'Marchal could be seen using the first face mask and the first breathing tube. He exhibited them, in fact, in 1931, at the International Nautical Show. On his feet, moreover, he wore the first 'flippers' designed by Captain de Corlieu, the use of which was to become universal."

While this price might inspire you to blurt out a string of expletives, take note that it encompasses all 14 bures (Fijian for "hut") on the island -- so you're splitting that nightly rate with 27 other people. Now that is entirely reasonable. Also, it's all-inclusive. Everything. Food, booze (including Champagne by the bottle), activities, private seaplane transfers, the works. Treat yourself to pontoon dinners, sunset cruises on the Blue Lagoon (yep, from the movie), a private butler, fishing, hiking, kayaking, massage... you're paying 35 grand a NIGHT. Basically do whatever the hell you want.

Ocean Beach is the site of a historic single-screen movie house; The Strand Theatre, which opened in November 1925. In the late 1970s, the Strand survived with midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday and Saturday nights. By the early 1980s it was running pornographic films. Community reaction forced it to change back to regular films.[23] It closed in the 1990s[24] and was converted into a clothing store after several failed attempts to preserve it as a theater.[citation needed] The theater was designated a historic building by the San Diego Historical Resources Board in December 2002.[25]

Great article – I found it last year and went to ko phanang for a month over Xmas because of it! I loved it so much I went back for the month of April – I’ve been back in London for a month and already thinking of going back again…. While the two-piece swimsuit as a design existed in classical antiquity,[8] the modern design first attracted public notice in Paris on July 5, 1946.[9] French automotive engineer Louis Réard introduced a design he named the "bikini", adopting the name from the Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean,[10][11] which was the colonial name the Germans gave to the atoll, transliterated from the Marshallese name for the island, Pikinni.[12]
This small island in the Philippines -- which sits in the Sulu Sea (Star Trek puns welcome) -- is rentable on Airbnb and is a complete island buyout. It's covered with white sand and coconut trees, and the two-story house accommodates up to 10 people in five bedrooms. That said, should you require some private time away from the group, the hilltop banyan house is a nice spot to stare contemplatively at Daracoton Bay.
Across the lake from San Marcos is the notorious village of San Pedro de la Laguna where young backpackers and burn-out expat hippies go to escape reality for awhile. You will find fascinating Mayan villages and yoga retreats that dot the shores of the lake. This area of Guatemala has a perfect year-round temperate that hovers around 25 degrees Celsius during the day.
Technique The swimmers entire body is under the water. The diver's nose and eyes are covered by a diving mask; the diver cannot breathe in through the nose, except when wearing a full face diving mask, but adapts to inhaling from a regulator's mouthpiece. Head & nose underwater. The snorkel tube can flood underwater. The snorkeler expels water either with a sharp exhalation on return to the surface or by tilting the head back shortly before reaching surface.
